What this course covers

Our ESOL programme supports learners from Pre-Entry through Entry Level 3. You'll build confidence in listening, speaking, reading and writing English with a focus on real-world communication and practical use.

Whether you are new to English or preparing to move into further learning or work, our group sessions help you take meaningful steps forward.

What you'll learn

Everyday communication

Greetings, introductions, daily conversations.

Listening & understanding

Conversations, instructions and spoken English.

Reading real texts

Signs, notices, forms, simple articles.

Practical writing

Filling in forms, messages, basic emails.

Grammar & vocabulary

Building blocks that support everyday use.

Confidence & fluency

Speaking in a friendly, supportive group.

The units of work covered

  • Food and Healthy Eating — Inc. food, meals, mealtimes, opinions about food and the concepts related to healthy eating.
  • Friends and Family — Inc. family members and friends, describing them, spending time with them, traditions and celebrations and getting on with people around you.
  • Community — Inc. taking part in community activities and learning about directions and places. It also covers community issues, community activities, charities and raising money.
  • Sport and Leisure — Inc. different sports and exercise activities, the links between keeping fit and healthy, hobbies and pastimes.
  • Employment Opportunities — Inc. qualities for employment, work experience and planning for the future. It also covers job applications, interview skills and CV writing.
  • Education, Training and Goals — Inc. education, their own and in the UK, personal skills and qualities, training opportunities, personal goals and future plans.
  • Caring for the Environment — Inc. weather, climate, geographical features, environment issues, living sustainably, environmental campaigns and awareness raising.
